Insurance Options for Car Rental: Which Package Is Right for You?
Why Choose an Additional Insurance Package?
Every rental vehicle legally comes with mandatory traffic insurance, but this only covers the other party's material/bodily damages - choosing an additional coverage package is important for any damage that may occur to the vehicle you're renting.
Compare Package Options
After selecting a vehicle and insurance package during booking, the comparison table shows you exactly which damage types each package covers (glass, tires, undercarriage, theft, etc.) and the excess amount, row by row. You can choose a basic, mid, or full coverage level based on your needs.
What Is the Excess Amount?
The excess is the maximum amount you're responsible for in the event of damage. More comprehensive packages generally offer a lower excess - if you travel frequently or on unfamiliar routes, we recommend choosing a package with a lower excess.
Glass and Tire Coverage
The most common types of damage on rural and off-road routes, caused by flying gravel, are cracked glass and tire cuts. To avoid leaving these small but annoying damages uncovered, we recommend packages that include glass and tire coverage.
