Pre-Road Trip Vehicle Checklist
A 10-Minute Check Before Hitting the Road
Spending a few minutes on a check before a long trip lets you catch many issues you might otherwise run into on the road.
Checklist
- Tire pressure and tread depth - Check against the manufacturer's recommended pressure values and inspect for wear.
- Engine oil and coolant level - Top up before departure if levels are below the minimum line.
- Headlights, turn signals, and brake lights - Make sure all lighting works, especially for night trips.
- Wiper blades and washer fluid - Replace worn wipers that could affect visibility in sudden rain.
- Spare tire and lug wrench - Make sure they're in the trunk and in usable condition.
Things to Keep in Mind on the Road
On long trips, take a break every 2 hours to stay refreshed. If you feel signs of fatigue, stopping at a safe spot right away instead of waiting for the next rest stop is the most effective way to prevent accidents.
